Currently in residence at the Catskills Mountain Foundation in Hunter and Tannersville, NY, Tharp and the company are mounting repertory works and rehearsing a new work set to Beethoven’s Opus 130. Tharp and the company will discuss the rehearsal process, the importance of remounting older works, as well as talk about the newest work, set to premiere at Saratoga Performing Arts Center in June. Audiences will learn how these works fit together and how they represent a trajectory of Tharp’s career. Join us and Twyla Tharp Dance for an exciting look into the legendary American choreographer’s process.

Pathways to Dance is a new eight-county, ten-venue Capital Region initiative, in concert with Manhattan’s Joyce Theater, designed to support new dance creation and presentation. For its inaugural year, with a focus on the work and life of the legendary Twyla Tharp, Pathways to Dance was awarded a NYS Regional Economic Development Council grant, which will support multiple programs and activities including a six-week residency for Tharp’s company at the Catskill Mountain Foundation, during which she will choreograph new work that will premiere June 30 as part of SPAC’s 50th Anniversary season.
